Reinventing Sustainability

TreeAndHumanKnot (TAHK) was born from the eternal bond between nature and mankind. We believe every tree planted is a knot that ties humanity closer to a healthier planet.

Our vision is to “re-enforce sustainable living on Planet Earth,” and our mission is to tie 100,000 TreeAndHumanKnots by 2030.

We live by values of commitment, consistency and care – encouraging every person, community and company to become an agent of positive environmental change.

Our Story

In April 2019 the idea for TreeAndHumanKnot was conceived, with our first Instagram post, introducing the GreenBirthday concept. By working together and “giving first” to nature, our founders realized they could overcome environmental challenges more effectively. The movement went public in August 2020 : inviting people to celebrate birthdays by planting trees instead of birthday cakes or candles. This simple reimagining of celebration struck a chord – within months volunteers in India and abroad were tying their own TreeAndHumanKnots. In fact, by November 2020 we had coordinators in Italy planting trees for our GreenBirthdays. From that first post, a grassroots movement has grown, empowering individuals to transform special occasions into lasting gifts for the Planet Earth.

Flagship Projects & Initiatives

• GreenBirthday Celebrations: We help people make every birthday count by planting trees. Our GreenBirthday initiative encourages eco-friendly celebrations – from organizing tree-planting parties to sharing sustainable gift ideas.
  
  

• TAHK Oxygen Parks: We establish dense fruit orchards and mini-forests (TAHK O2 Parks) in communities. These Oxygen Parks improve air quality and soil health while providing fresh fruits and shade.
  
  

• Carbon Credit Marketplace: We are building a transparent carbon marketplace, so organizations and citizens can fund and trade carbon credits for green projects. By “facilitating carbon credits,” we turn trees and sustainability into real economic impact.
  
  

• AI/ML-driven Planning: Our tech team (with interns trained in AI/ML and IoT) is developing data-driven planning tools. These innovations optimize where and how we plant trees, measure impact with sensors and satellites, and ensure our programs scale efficiently.
  
  

• Corporate & Community Partnerships: We collaborate with businesses, schools, NGOs and local governments to multiply our impact. Corporate sponsors help fund planting drives and workshops (like our “Green Birthday Bash”), and community volunteers care for orchards year-round. Together we turn environmental responsibility into shared purpose.
  
  

• UN Sustainable Development Goals: All our efforts tie into global climate and development targets. Each TreeAndHumanKnot is a step toward UN SDGs – from climate action and life on land to clean air and strong communities.
  
  
  

Impact & Global Reach

Rooted in India, TAHK has already become a global movement. In a few short years we have engaged volunteers across Asia and Europe, proving our concepts scale worldwide. In recognition of our work, we were acknowledged by India’s Startup India initiative as part of the solution to environmental challenges. Through corporate alliances, educational programs and government liaisons, we constantly seek new partners to expand our planting initiatives.

Our projects advance the UN 2030 Agenda by directly contributing to climate action and sustainable communities. For policymakers, the simple “tie a tree” model of TreeAndHumanKnot offers a tangible policy tool: planting trees to meet climate goals and strengthen nature’s resilience.
